The Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC) has developed a selection of online training options including e-learning modules and educational presentations.
The IPC has launched a new e-learning portal which contains e-learning training modules to provide training across government information access and privacy legislation.
Log in to the IPC’s e-learning portal here to access training modules on:
- Privacy complaint handling under the PPIP Act
- Access training for decision makers under the GIPA Act – module 1
These e-learning options have been developed specifically to assist right to information and privacy practitioners, and are provided free of charge to all IPC stakeholders via a simple self-registration process.
When using the IPC’s e-learning facility, agencies have the option of signing up either as an individual or as a group/organisation to access the available training. A template certificate for participants will be provided on completion of the course.
New e-learning modules and educational tools will continue to be developed and added to the portal to meet stakeholder demand for training in the areas of government information access and privacy legislation in NSW.

Privacy - online training
NSW public sector employees who wish to complete our online training in the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act) can contact us to obtain a username and password and provide us with the number of people within their agency who will undertake the training.
If you have an existing password you can access the training website directly.
This online program is interactive and designed to promote a greater understanding and awareness of privacy issues. The program features the 12 Information Protection Principles (IPPs) and a short quiz. The program separates training modules for local government and state government employees.
Information access - online training
The IPC has developed an e-learning module on access training for decision makers under the GIPA Act – please see above.
The IPC also has a range of education presentations for public and non-government organisations that can be completed at your convenience. These are available in our training resources section.
We welcome your feedback about our e-learning modules. Your feedback will assist us in improving the training we offer. Please complete the webform or the evaluation form (Word, 240kb) after completing each training package.
