District Court Locations - Outside of Sydney

Where does the Court sit outside of Sydney CBD?

The Court sits at the following places outside of Sydney.

Albury, Armidale, Batemans Bay, Bathurst, Bega, Bourke, Broken Hill, Campbelltown, Coffs Harbour, Coonamble, Dubbo, East Maitland, Gosford, Goulburn, Grafton, Griffith, Inverell, Lismore, Maitland, Moree, Newcastle, Nowra, Orange, Parkes, Parramatta, Penrith, Port Macquarie, Queanbeyan, Tamworth, Taree, Wagga Wagga, Wollongong.

The Registrar of the Local Court is also the Registrar of the District Court at these places. Addresses and details for these venues are the same as the locations of Local Courts>>>

The Court also sits at Katoomba in its residual jurisdiction (for mining matters only).

Are there any other District Court Registries?

The Court maintains registries at all of its proclaimed places. Even if the Court does not sit there court process may still be filed at these other venues. These places are:

Braidwood, Casino, Cessnock, Cobar, Condobolin, Cooma, Cootamundra, Corowa, Cowra, Deniliquin, Forbes, Glen Innes, Gundagai, Gunnedah, Hay, Kempsey, Leeton, Lithgow, Liverpool, Moruya, Moss Vale, Mudgee, Murwillumbah, Muswellbrook, Narrabri, Narrandera, Nyngan, Quirindi, Scone, Singleton, Tumut, Walgett, Wellington, Wentworth, Wyalong, Yass, Young.

District Court Sitting Dates

The Court sits permanently in both its civil and criminal jurisdiction in Sydney.

Outside of Sydney the Chief Judge determines the dates and durations of sittings, which are published in advance in the Government Gazette.
