The IPC is proud to support International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8 March 2026, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and a reminder of the ongoing work required to end discrimination and marginalisation in all its forms.
This year’s theme, “Balance the Scales,” highlights the urgent need to ensure fair, inclusive and accessible justice for every woman and girl. While decades of progress have been made, significant structural barriers and obstacles to justice still remain.
IWD is an opportunity to celebrate women’s contributions and more importantly it’s a powerful call to action. Balancing the scales requires us to closely examine, and actively challenge the structures and systems that reinforce inequality across workplaces, communities and public institutions, while putting meaningful measures in place to drive change.
It also means truly listening to women’s experiences, especially those navigating health challenges, caregiving responsibilities, bias, discrimination, or unsafe work environments. Their voices provide essential insight into the barriers that persist, and the steps we must take to remove them.
IWD 2026 invites all of us to act with purpose, advocate for equity, and work collectively toward a world where justice is not an aspiration, but a lived reality for every woman and girl.
