Local Government Week 1 - 7 August 2016
Local government and its many functions are a big part of people’s everyday lives.
Council-owned roads, child care centres, libraries, sports fields and cemeteries, food safety checks, building and development, and pet registrations are all operated by councils.
Local Government Week encourages people to explore and get to know their councils: how can they be involved, and what their council has to offer.
The 2016 theme is ‘Our Council, Our Community’ and the week sees councils across NSW host a range of events and activities to showcase their day-to-day work for the community. A highlight of the week is the Local Government Week Awards which celebrates exceptional work done by councils across the state.
Local Government Week is a great opportunity to explore all the ways that your council is a part of your community.
