Privacy Awareness Month 2016
Privacy Awareness Week is an annual initiative of the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA). This event has grown so large that it now encompasses an entire month! The purpose of Privacy Awareness Month (PAM 2016) is to raise awareness for all on their rights and responsibilities under current privacy legislation.
Privacy and You
The theme for this year's Privacy Awareness Month for NSW is ‘Privacy and You’ and is about protecting your personal information and understanding your rights and responsibilities under current privacy legislation. With the popularity of smartphones, mobile apps and using online services on the rise, it is important to know what privacy settings are available and how to use them.
With May being Privacy Awareness Month and also Information Awareness Month, the Privacy Commissioner will provide service providers, both public and private sector, with privacy fact sheets and resources to address the identified gap in knowledge of privacy legislation. Many of these resources can be obtained from the website.
