In addition to NSW laws covering your rights to privacy, there may be other laws which apply to certain situations but which are not administered by the IPC.

The IPC oversees a number of laws that protect and promote the protection of personal and health information in NSW.

The Information Commissioner Elizabeth Tydd has tabled the Report on the operation of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009: 2010 – 2013 in Parliament.

If a person is not satisfied by the reviewable decision of an agency, they may apply to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) to review the decision.

IPC publishes reports about agencies compliance with the GIPA Act

The IPC reports on own motion investigations. These are published as soon as possible following completion, and the relevant Minister is notified.

The IPC publishes external review reports to assist agencies to comply with the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act).

The Government Information Public Access Act 2009 (GIPA Act) applies to New South Wales (NSW) public sector agencies.

The IPC oversees laws concerning access to government information.
