The IPC supports United Nations Day 24 October 2022
The Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC) supports United Nations Day (UN Day) on 24 October 2022.
UN Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter, the founding document of the United Nations. 24 October has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948 when the UN officially came into existence.
The right to access information and the right to privacy are both encapsulated in Articles 19 and 22 respectively of the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In NSW, these rights are protected under the:

- Government Information (Information Commissioner) Act 2009 (GIIC Act)
- Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act)
