About the event:
Privacy Awareness Week is an international campaign that highlights the importance of privacy and raises awareness for public sector agencies about how to protect the personal information of the people we support.
As the rapid rise in technologies such as AI continues around us all, it brings both new opportunities and significant challenges for how our personal data is collected, used and safeguarded. Join us this Privacy Awareness Week 2025 for a discussion on the evolving relationship between AI and privacy. Hear from our keynote speaker, Associate Professor Dr Katharine Kemp from the University of New South Wales as well as Department of Customer Service Chief Information and Security Officer, Sam Mackay for a thought-provoking address and conversation about AI innovation and privacy.
Additionally, NSW Privacy Commissioner Sonia Minutillo will discuss the overarching theme of PAW 2025 and the importance of making privacy everyone's business in the world of AI.
This event is for NSW public sector agency leaders, senior staff and privacy practitioners, including those within local government, universities and ministerial offices.
As stipulated in the IPC’s Privacy Policy, the IPC ensures information collected complies with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act) and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIP Act).
Please note: This event is open to NSW public sector agencies, including those within local government, universities, state-owned corporations and ministerial offices.
